Description of the Kangaroo Zak

WARNINGS:

•These instructions and warnings are not to be considered as medical advice.

•Follow all guidelines as described in the Kangaroo Mother Care Method literature.

•Use only under the supervision of a medical professional with specific training in the Kangaroo Mother Care Method.

•The trained medical professional must evaluate the condition of each baby and adult before deciding to Kangaroo and/or use this Zangaroo Zak.

•The Kangaroo sessions should be no less than 1 hour and last as long as possible. Repeat every day of the week, if at all possible.

•To select the proper Size and its adjustment, the medical professional must consider your size and that of the baby and assist with proper fitting. The Zangaroo Zak must fit snug to provide boundaries but not so snug as to compromise the baby’s respiratory effort.

•Zippers of the Zangaroo Zak must be positioned away from the skin of the baby.

•Baby must wear a hat and a diaper while in Kangaroo Position.

•To avoid abrupt temperature changes and/or in cold environments, baby may wear socks (if the baby's feet are colder than the rest of the body) and a sleeveless shirt that opens in the front.

•Very low birth weight preemies may need a blanket for warmth in addition to the Zangaroo Zak.
